and I cant wait until I have it at the new studio to work on. In 2007 I
saved 8 consoles from being gutted and racked up... so it's been a good year of
preservation. Take care allApril 10, 2007
The forum is experiencing technical problems as I'm switching servers at the
moment. Be patient as I and my web guy are doing everything we can to make
things happen.

I've been sick from work for the past week so I've had a bit of time to
invest in the site. First off you all may have noticed the URL change.
I have changed the server to the new web-address of
http://WBSPS.Kuzub.com please update your book marks! This new
server allows for faster international downloads and larger storage so I'm able
to store many more document without problem. A weird thing that is
happening is the new server is case sensitive, so some images and links may not
work, these problems will be addressed shortly. One of the plans is to
create a Ward-Beck forum where user can ask and answer Ward-Beck related
questions.
I've finally finished all of my scanning. Eugene Johnson gave me an
amazing stack of documentation, photo's and articles to add to the website.
Those documents are on their way. Please stand by! I have
created a ward beck email,
WBSPS@Kuzub.com
so send your questions there.

Hello all! Once again I've found a spare moment to get some ward
beck updating done. I added some prices in the price guide! they are
there to show what some modules have been selling for. Please look at it
as a rough average, not as a firm selling price. I assume some people pay
less and others pay more, this does not take into account the age and condition
of the modules. I have had allot of manuals scanned and got some really
cool pictures of my ward beck factory tour! Please stay tuned as I'm
getting very busy with my studio. I now have 2 guys working for me, so
it's freeing up some time....but not enough! Tony

Off to Toronto I go. I plan to
visit Eugene at the shop but really need to get cracking on details. It's
a good thing for my company but a bad thing for this group, but I've been busy.
I'm trying not to neglect this group, but also trying to run my business.
Long story short my scanner is now broken. I'm trying to get a new one or
a better one, but things aren't flying. I may contract all the manuals out
and have then scanned, pay the $200 to some kid for the summer who knows!
During the past few months I've seen
allot of interesting consoles. I got allot of interesting emails and have
learned allot! One console I'm proud of is the one I found for Len. While I was
at his house picking up an Ampex ATR 102 he found for me, he showed me "re-becka"

OK, I got an email today from Eugene at ward beck asking what the status of the manuals and such are. I've been
extremely busy lately with my studio. As you all could agree this is a good thing. I guess its been very much ward beck related. Having this console in my studio has been such an advantage over my competitors. I recently
received one of the best compliments ever, A local studio purchased some on my M462B EQ's for use in their MASTERING console. I guess that tells you the quality of these things.
The studio is really taking off...for a 20 year old kid I think I'm doing well, I guess when I got into this whole ward beck thing I
didn't realize how much time it would consume. I have a HUGE stack of manuals left to scan. I may contract it out to some student who needs a summer job, or maybe a work ed student, I have a few computer teachers who owe me favors. As I said before please email me if you require drawing right away.
Well, lenny got his console and is almost setup and running. He has been
modifying the frame to except his M460 Strips. other then that I await images of re"beck"a
In the world of Ebay and such I've become somewhat of a protector. Recently,
yesterday, I got an email from a guy in Nashville, TN, who had just bought an
Olympic surplus beck off of ebay. I was shocked to discover that the 48 channel console only had 6 microphone inputs. I called him and asked him about his application. He wanted to use it as a tracking console. I warned him that the console was fitted with only 6 mic pre's. I'm no expert in the 500 series, but I discovered some pictures I had and called a friend in
Toronto about it and confirmed that his console was not what he wanted. He is in the process of solving the problem. Best of luck morgan, for this, you should become an honorary member.

Ok, I've been really busy, what can I say, also the
computer I usually use to do this site got sent to Montréal.
Lenny came and picked up his console. I CANNOT believe
the whole thing fit into a Astro van. AMAZING.
The website has also come to a hault but has not been
forgotten. I still have 2 BOXES of manuals haunting
me. I also got a few more on top of the box I got from
Eugene.
Dr. Beck is in the process of shipping me some metal work
and bucks for a project of mine, I plan to rack mount 8-10
modules for portable use. We made a fair trade and I
expect to see it in the next few weeks. I also plan to
update the members section today or tomorrow. It's a
good thing for my company that the studio is being booked
and a bad thing for the site.
Life is good and I will
add allot of stuff. In the meantime check out the
VINTAGE ward beck ad section.

Hole in 1. Evolution Metals did
an awesome job cutting a hole in my
plate. I have also re-created my patch
bay labels. I will post a Corel Draw
file in the next few days.

I now have 484 Patch Points built into my
console. This puts my old Behringer
stuff to shame!!
They
didn't charge me anything for the work, so I
thought I'd plug their website. (I will
be sending them something in the mail) Thanks
for the work.

Out of pure interest, the Website is now
226mb and growing.
Dave Thomas and I have worked out a trade for
the M461, M462B and the M463L. Those
modules are no longer available for
trades.
Dave Thomas Has now officially become one of
my personal hero's. He will be referred
to as "Dr. Beck" from now on.
He knows too much and has a prescription for
everything.
I eagerly await the delivery of my Pod 22,
and fader "ganging bars" from
Eugene. Also I expect another shipment
of extra's from Uncle Bob.
Manual scanning has slowed down. I do
have a business to run...so it's on the list
of things to do
September 14, 2003
Dave Thomas gave me a great idea for
my unbalanced Equalizer problem. He
told me to jumper the EQ send on the M470A
and tie the Equalizer in the Effects send
path since it's balanced. I was anxious
to see if I could do it, but to my surprise
it was already done. God bless
Ward-Beck.
I bought a
100 point patch bay for my outboard
effects. I plan to wire it up in the
next few weeks. I plan to mount it
above my existing 384 point patch bay.
.

I plan to wire using 12 Channel Belden
Snake.

It took about 2 hours to clean up the Old
Stuff.
I also plan to wire the effects on the top
row. The Compressors on the bottom and
the EQ's are already on the Patch bay. GO ON
BOARD EFFECTS!!!

A few new members and a new member
layout have been created. If you would
like to change the info or add info to your
profile please email it to me. The
stack of manuals sits idle at the moment, but
I soon hope to be scanning like a mad man.
WANTED: Plastic covers to make 2 faders move
as 1. Can I get these from penny and
Giles still? I will call them
today.
September 3, 2003
What a day. I purchased an
M461, M462A and an M466 and got what I
thought were M472's but turned out to be
M462A's!! I also received a manual in the
mail with a great letter:

It's been a good day. If anyone
has a use for an M461 or an M463L please let
me know.
September 1, 2003
The M450B and the L1202B manuals have
been scanned and Made into PDF. This
box will take a lot more time then I had
originally thought. It has been sorted
and cleaned up. I've discovered
modules I never knew existed, and discovered
modules I want!!! While wiring my newly
acquired M472 Modules, I came to the
realization that they are
un-balanced and the M470A send to the
module is also unbalanced. I have (19)
M462B modules on my console and am running
them unbalanced...stupid in my opinion.
The reason the M472 is so scaled down and
compact is that there was a Stereo Version of
this module (M472A), the M472 and M472A share
the same design and the same board.
Interesting cost effective piece of gear in
my opinion. M472A is my rack mount pick
of the week!

27, 2003:
Oh Boy, is it early in the
morning. I have scanned and completed
the remainder of my pile of manuals.
I'm caught up to what I have, but fear what
comes in the box from Toronto. I've
changed the look of the Manuals area so you
now know the nature of the beast you're
downloading.
August
25, 2003:
I have received the "L1202A
Transportable Mixing Console" manual
from Mr. Douglas Walker. Walker
microphones uses this console to test
microphones when the repairs are complete.
The Manual has the functional diagram as well
as the manuals for the M480C, M481B, M424B,
M487 and M207. I hope to have them done
before the week is over so I can return the
manual. I received word that
Ward-Beck is sending me a box of manuals and
a special gift; it's a prototype of a
POD22!!!
I think the glowing LED VU meters will
compliment my big black PPM's...I think I
need to hire someone to calibrate my
console. Bob Malloy is sending me
another pair of M472's and the M463L I bought
by accident is on it's way...It's a great day
at the WBSPS head office. Can we get
government funding for preserving a part of
Canadian heritage??
August 24, 2003:
I have updated the modules section
with images of modules. I hope to add
more detailed pictures from my digital
camera. I have scanned the M451, M624,
M475 and M625B module manuals but have not
converted them to PDF yet. Does anyone
know what the M463L is? is it a pre-amp of a
sub master module? I bought one not
knowing all the details...Ebay lesson
#1 there are no dumb questions, only dumb
buyers
August 22, 2003:
My M472 Modules came from Bob Malloy from Malloy Sound and Video
Contractors and
put them into my console that was pre-wired
for M462 modules and they didn't work.
I looked at the EQ filler plate and realized
the pin configuration was almost
identical! The signal was being
bypassed before it even went through the
module. So, the pin outs on the M472
Manual are incorrect. If you have the
pin outs please contact me. Wayne

M466 Compressor Limiter Module has been
scanned and added to the archive. 50
PAGES!!!! It's a big download.
The Schematic section has changed a
bit. For every module with schematics
for output amps, booster amps and filters
there is a separate link.

Thank you to everyone helping me
provide this service. Keep the manuals
coming. I got an email from Eugene at
Ward-beck who said he'll look through the
archive to see if he has manuals.
